To The Point Launches Cassidy Concept Active Meditation

To The Point is a professional communications company with a specialty in written communication services. We developed, wrote, and produced the Cassidy Concept Active Meditation (CCAM) process over the past year and are proud to announce the first episode is now live on Vimeo, and the trailer is available on both Vimeo and YouTube.

The first installment in the new CCAM line of meditations is called "The Night Before a Big Event – Sleep Well." We developed it in response to the problem of getting a good night's sleep the night before an important event such as a critical business meeting, challenging sporting event, or any other significant occasion. There is no question "night before" anxiety impacts a large percentage of the population – I know I have personally struggled with it many times. As an example, the night before my first marathon, I laid awake for several hours and woke up tired and groggy. This is not a great way to start the day, particularly when you have to run for over four hours, and the marathon would have been much more enjoyable if I didn't feel so tired. I knew there had to be a solution.

As a start, we experimented with many different types of traditional meditative practices, and while they did offer some benefit, it was not the immediate impact we were seeking. The other hurdle I struggled with is many were simply too esoteric and slow-paced. Laying still taking endless deep breaths and imagining my body "connecting to the earth" just didn't work for me – and from talking to other people, I certainly wasn't alone in this regard.

There are also practical limitations to most of the meditation apps and programs currently available. Quite simply, the apps and audiobooks are quite pricey, and the free options available on YouTube generally contain intrusive advertisements. There is nothing worse than trying to focus on relaxation and then having to stop the process and pick up your phone to turn off an annoying ad.

The next consideration when choosing a relaxation program is determining what your objectives are. We developed CCAM as a standalone product designed to offer immediate benefit and not require weeks or months of practice to see results. Unlike traditional meditation, which has a whole host of cognitive benefits beyond relaxation, CCAM was designed to actively engage the practitioner, provide immediate relaxation, peace of mind, and doesn't require extensive practice to get results.

After five years of research and trying hundreds of different types of guided meditations and relaxation techniques, the two most effective relaxation practices we found are Progressive Muscle Relaxation and Yoga Nidra. They are unique in that they are active and engaging, will work for almost anyone, and provide a sense of accomplishment as opposed to the standard meditative state of letting go. CCAM borrows heavily from these two highly effective disciplines and weaves the most effective components together, along with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), binaural beats, and soothing nature sounds to support the process.

CBT is proven to be very effective, and while a true CBT experience is outside the scope of CCAM, we incorporated CBT Positive Affirmations to keep the mind positively engaged, particularly when in a suggestive open state. We believe having the mind actively involved throughout the relaxation process is crucial to the success of CCAM and part of what takes it to the next level. The stoic affirmations used in "The Night Before a Big Event – Sleep Well" are particularly helpful in supporting the process. These components of CCAM all work together to create a synergistic effect, leading to better results than could be achieved with any single standalone practice.

In short, our theory is the night before a big event most people's minds go into automatic thought processing mode leading to worry and rumination. At the most basic level, some people ruminate more than others, and this unconscious thought pattern can keep you awake. To get to sleep, you must short circuit the process and manually turn your brain to a more relaxing channel. This is where CCAM shines because it provides you and your brain with a tangible, active way to change the channel. CCAM delivers the benefits of a concentration meditation but supplements it with the more engaging practices of Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Yoga Nidra, and CBT Positive Affirmations to interrupt automatic thought processes quickly and effectively.

To further support relaxation, low volume binaural beats and genuine nature sounds provide the backdrop for the program. The nature sounds are authentic sounds that we recorded during warm summer evenings on a remote island in the North Channel of Lake Huron. The jury is currently out on the effectiveness of binaural beats. However, after years of observation, we believe that listeners are noticeably more relaxed and sleepy when exposed to low-level Theta range binaural beats. At the very least, they offer calming white noise that combines well with nature sounds to provide a soothing listening experience.

We believe that CCAM is one of the most effective ways to calm down and get a good night's sleep, and we encourage you to try-out the free trailer and see if it works for you. The full session is available for a one-time purchase price of $3.99, and it is then yours to use as often as you like. We chose to go this route because creating, producing, and hosting high-quality meditations is costly. As a result, we require a payment model to offset the cost. We definitely can not use the advertiser-supported model on YouTube because distracting pop-up ads before, during, and after a meditation do not work to promote relaxation and sleep. As a result, we hope you will support us so we can continue to provide ad-free programs to help you relax.
